Nimbu mirchi

It is believed that 'nimbu mirchi' is put up at one's doorstep or entrance, so that when Alakshmi comes here to cast her evil eye, she is gratified by the lemons and chillies and satiates her hunger with them, without proceeding to enter the home, shop or home where it is placed - making it a good luck charm of sorts.
